On vacation, my partner Michelle and I were traveling up the coast of Oregon for the first time. Struck by the stunning natural beauty, on a Saturday afternoon we detoured and drove around the city of Brookings to get an idea of what a typical home would cost.

While peering through a window of a listed home, Marianne Padilla drove by, noticed our plight, and asked if we would like to look inside.  She was busy at the moment, but took the time to help us regardless.  We verbally defined our requirements and a preference for condominiums, since our lifestyle involves frequent travel.  Within fifteen minutes, she drove us to right to a new home that met our needs completely. We thought about it as we drove along the length of the Oregon coast. One week later to the day, we called Marianne and made an offer on the property.

When you are in town and don't know a soul, you are at their mercy. You feel vunerable and anxious.  You worry about getting fleeced. Thankfully, Marianne is a very delightful person under her very professional veneer. Moreover, she took the time to explain in great detail 1) the regulatory environment for real estate transactions in Oregon and 2) her ethical obligations to the buyer and seller. Marianne was the Rock of Gibraltar. She kept us calm during one of life's biggest decisions, a home purchase. At no time did we regret retaining her as our real estate broker.
